Guidelines and Instructions for Poster Competition and Scientific Paper Presentation

    1. Introduction:

    Cure SMA Foundation of India invites original submissions for consideration of awards for scientific presentation and poster presentations during Second National Conference on Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMArtCon2024 –Spinal Muscular Atrophy Research & Therapeutics) to be held on 24th and 25th August 2024 in Gurgaon India.

    The poster competition and platform presentations are an integral part of the Second National Conference on Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), aimed at showcasing innovative research and fostering scientific exchange in the field. The poster competition serves as a platform for participants to share their research, engage with colleagues, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in SMA. We encourage all interested individuals to submit their work and look forward to a successful competition at the National Scientific Conference on Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

    This document outlines the guidelines and instructions for participants interested in submitting posters for the competition.

    1. Eligibility:
    • The competition is open to researchers, clinicians, students, primary caregiver of the SMA children and professionals working in the field of SMA.
    • There will be 3 broad categories for participation-

    Group A: Medical Professionals working in the field of SMA, Researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and fellowship students.

    Group B: Therapists (PT, OT, AST), Nutritionist, Nurses

    Group C: Parents, Patients (above 18 yrs.), Primary caregivers (Posters only)

     

    • Senior medical doctors and researchers can submit abstract for platform presentation /Poster under non competitive category.

     

    III. Submission Requirements: abstract guidelines

    • Each participant or group may submit maximum 3 posters /scientific papers for consideration
    • Posters abstract must be submitted via email (info@curesmaindiasmartcon.com) by 25th July 2024.
    • Maximum word limit 300 words.

    • Submitted ABSTRACTS will be screened by experts for its relevance and contents and then selected for final presentation. Corresponding author  will be notified by email regarding the selection of abstract by confirmation email
    • Judges’ decisions will be final, and no feedback will be provided to participants upon request.
    • Final poster will be carried along at venue on the day of presentation
    • The poster should be in physical format and adhere to the designated dimensions (e.g., 36 inches width x 48 inches height).
    • Poster design must include a title, list of authors and affiliations, and appropriate sections detailing the research methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions.
    • All submissions must be original work, and any references used should be properly cited.
    • Please mention if you want to submit under non award category.
    1. Content and Structure:
    • Posters should present research related to SMA, including but not limited to epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, and patient care.
    • The content should be organized logically and include clear headings for each section.
    • Graphics, charts, images, and tables may be used to enhance the presentation of data and findings.
    • Text should be concise and easily readable from a distance.
    1. Scientific Rigor and Innovation:
    • Submissions will be evaluated based on the scientific validity, methodological rigor, and innovation of the research.
    • Emphasis should be placed on the novelty of the findings and their potential contribution to advancing knowledge in the field of SMA.
    1. Judging Process:
    • A panel of expert judges will review all submitted posters based on predetermined criteria, including scientific merit, clarity, innovation, relevance to SMA, and visual appeal.
    • Judges’ decisions will be final, and feedback may be provided to participants upon request.

    VII. Awards and Recognition:

    • Awards will be presented to the top posters, recognizing outstanding contributions to SMA research.
    • Categories may include Best Overall Poster, Best Clinical Research, Best Basic Science Research, and Best Student Poster (undergraduate/post graduate/physiotherapist/nutritionist) among others.
    • Winners will be announced during the conference.

     

    VIII. Dissemination and Publication:

    Selected posters may be published in conference proceedings. Participants retain copyright to their work and grant permission for the conference organizers to reproduce and distribute their posters for educational purposes.
